
The Delta State Ministry of Justice has reinforced its position as the leading ministry in capacity-building initiatives in Delta State, rolling out strategic training programmes aimed at enhancing the competence, efficiency, and professionalism among its legal officers.
The Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Ekemejero Ohwovoriole, SAN, gave this assurance through the Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Omamuzo Erebe, SAN, while declaring open a one-day capacity-building training for law officers of the Ministry.

The training, themed “Total Framework of the Administrator-General and Public Trustee,” was organised to deepen officers’ understanding of the statutory functions, procedures, and legal responsibilities of the Administrator-General and Public Trustee Department.
Mr. Erebe explained that the programme was designed to address identified knowledge gaps and ensure that officers are adequately equipped to deliver efficient, professional, and responsive services to the Ministry’s sole client, the Delta State Government.
According to him, the training forms part of a comprehensive capacity-building initiative launched by the Ministry last year and scheduled to continue throughout the current year.
“I am pleased that all departments have submitted their training plans, and the Ministry remains fully committed to implementing them. Training sessions have been scheduled for all departments, including emerging areas such as Artificial Intelligence,” he said.
He further disclosed that the Law Pavilion would provide specialised training on the application of artificial intelligence tools to enhance legal research, productivity, and overall operational efficiency within the Ministry.
Mr. Erebe emphasised that deliberate steps are being taken to ensure continuous professional development, noting that the Ministry of Justice is determined to remain one of the most efficient and well-trained ministries in Delta State.

Delivering a lecture at the programme, Mr. Ben Adigwe, Director of the Department of Law Review, Research, Reporting and Publications, presented a comprehensive overview of intestate succession, public trustee duties, procedural requirements, and the distribution of estates of deceased persons. He also stressed the importance of will-making in effective estate administration.
In her presentation, Mrs. Cynthia Eronmwon, a Director/ Zonal Coordinator in the Ministry, spoke on the management of estates by the Administrator-General and Public Trustee Department, outlining its roles and statutory responsibilities.
Also speaking, Mrs. Happy Ovili, Director of the Administrator-General and Public Trustee Department, explained the processes involved in distributing the residual estates of persons who die intestate.
