The Delta State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Ekemejero Ohwovoriole, SAN, has restated the determination of the Ministry to ensure that all the provisions of the Administration of Criminal Justice law (ACJL) are effectively implemented for the overall benefit of the State.
Ohwovoriole made the clarification in Asaba during a courtesy visit by the Nigeria Bar Association Women Forum in the state.
He told them that the Ministry had a great interest in having a very good criminal justice system, pointing out the plea bargain provisions as one of the key provisions of the ACJ Law.
Ohwovoriole, who informed the NBA Women Forum that the State Ministry of Justice had in 2024 , organized training in which some members of the private Bar participated, said that the private Bar was critical in many activities of the Ministry.
He assured the team that the Ministry would support them in their forthcoming Conference and their International Women Day.
In his remarks, the leader of the delegation Dr Ego Ikeatu said that they were in the office of the Attorney-General to introduce their members to the Commissioner and to request the support of the Ministry for their Annual Conference and the International Women Day.
She reminded the Attorney-General that the mandate of the NBA Women Forum was to empower female lawyers through trainings and seminars.
Meanwhile, the State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Ekemejero Ohwovoriole SAN said that Delta State is blessed with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori who according to him was committed towards uplifting the judiciary in whatever way he could.
Ohwovoriole stated this when he received some law students of Delta State origin studying in different Universities across the Country, ( Delsan) where he explained that through mentorship one could be better in their academic performances than what it was .
Earlier, the leader of the delegation Daniels Jehu Akosa, said that the essence of the visit to the Attorney-General was to acquaint the Commissioner of their internship with the Ministry, emphasizing that the internship was already in form of partnership with the Ministry.
He also lauded the Permanent Secretary and Solicitor-General of the Ministry, Mr. Omamuzo Erebe for his support.
Members of the International Federation of Female Lawyers (FIDA) were equally in the Attorney–General’s office on a courtesy visit where he, the Honourable Attorney–General and Commissioner for Justice assured them of his Ministry’s preparedness to lend their support to the group at all times.
He commended them for their role in shaping the society through the various programmes they have enunciated to combat and protect the rights of vulnerable women and children in the society
