The Hon Attorney -General and Commissioner for Justice, Ekemejero Ohwovoriole, SAN, has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to a fully digital justice system, praising the Committee on Rules, Business, legal and Judicial matters for its consistent support throughout the 2026 budget defence process.
Speaking after the Ministry’s budget presentation, the Attorney -General, who was represented by the Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, Omamuzo Erebe, SAN, described the Committee’s backing as instrumental to advancing Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s agenda for a more efficient and accessible justice system.
He noted that public confidence in the justice sector remains crucial to societal stability, adding that the Ministry has prioritised access to justice and transparency through several technology-driven reforms.
Among the reforms highlighted is the Virtual Court Hearing System, which is now operational across the state. The system allows defendants to give evidence directly from correctional centres, eliminating delays and logistical challenges associated with transporting inmates to court.
The Ministry is also implementing a state-wide Criminal Biometrics Project, designed to capture comprehensive data including photographs, fingerprints, and iris scans of all individuals who have ever passed through the state’s criminal justice system.

According to the Attorney-General, the initiative mirrors global best practices and significantly strengthens case tracking, security, and identity verification.
He further disclosed that the Ministry has commenced the digitisation of its internal operations, ensuring that every file received from the police is uploaded onto an electronic case management platform. This enables the Attorney-General to monitor file movement in real time and ensures strict compliance with statutory timelines
In addition, Ekemejero announced that the Laws of Delta State are now fully accessible online at no cost to the public. Citizens, investors, legal practitioners, and researchers can view all state laws by simply searching “e-laws of Delta State” or visiting the Ministry of Justice website.
He noted that the development promotes transparency, reduces dependence on intermediaries, and enhances the state’s attractiveness to investors seeking to understand its legal and regulatory environment.
“The justice sector in Delta has gone digital,” he said, affirming the Ministry’s drive to ensure that justice is delivered efficiently and remains within reach of every Deltan.
The Attorney -General concluded by reiterating the Ministry’s commitment to sustaining reforms that place Delta State at the forefront of digital justice innovation in Nigeria.
