‎The Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary, Delta State Ministry of Justice, Mr. Omamuzo Erebe, SAN, has emphasized that a sound understanding of common law principles is fundamental to effective service delivery in the public service.

‎Mr. Erebe made this assertion while delivering a lecture at the ongoing 8th Inter-Cadre Transfer and Inter-Service Transfer Training Programme and Aptitude Test for shortlisted officers in the Delta State Public Service.

‎Presenting a paper titled “Principles of Common Law for Public Servants,” the Solicitor-General provided participants with a comprehensive exposition of the foundational principles of common law, with particular emphasis on fundamental human rights and their practical application in civil administration and public service operations.

‎He stressed that legal awareness among public servants is indispensable, noting that a firm grasp of common law principles promotes professionalism, accountability, and lawful decision-making within government institutions.

‎The training programme, which commenced on Tuesday, was formally declared open by the Head of Service, Delta State, Dr. (Mrs.) Mininim Oseji. In her remarks, she stated that the programme was designed to prepare officers transitioning to the officers and assistant cadres by equipping them with relevant knowledge, contemporary management concepts, and practical skills required for efficient and effective service delivery.

‎The Inter-Cadre and Inter-Service Training Programme forms part of the Delta State Government’s continuous capacity-building initiatives aimed at strengthening competence, efficiency, and service excellence across the public service.
