The Delta State Government, through the Delta State Task Force Against Human Trafficking and Irregular Migration, headed by the Attorney- General and Commissioner for Justice, Ekemejero Ohwovoriole, SAN, is equipping secondary schools across the state to take an active role in preventing human trafficking through partnership with the Delta State Ministry of Basic & Secondary Education and the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons ( NAPTIP) in implementation of the Schools Anti-Trafficking Education and Advocacy Project ( STEAP), in Delta State.

The STEAP which is a Project funded by the Kingdom of the Netherlands is implemented by the International Center for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) and the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons ( NAPTIP) in 5 States in Nigeria and entails the inauguration of Schools Anti-Trafficking Vanguards and development projects in 50 schools in each of the selected States, Delta State inclusive.
